Drakes Catering

Pros: They provided nearly all the decor-luckily it was Christmas time-because the place was decorated beautifully. They also provided many many candles and candle holders for the wedding ceremony room-which was beautiful. In the end they came through for us. The food was delicious - everybody raved.Cons: Getting to that point was very very frustrating. It worked out that we were able to use their christmas decorations because you are only given 2 hours before your wedding to prepare the rooms you will be using. Who wants to hang decorations 2 hours before your wedding? When we were shown the wedding package the pictures showed white chair covers on all the chair which made it look very very elegant. At the last minute Drakes informed us that they would no longer be using chair covers because it was too costly for them. Everytime we called them to discuss arrangements we would get a different answer from different people who worked there (some not very nice at all). This made it extremely difficult to nail down what we were and werent allowed to do. While I was getting ready in their "Bridal preperation room" which is just a storage room offset by a room divider-the staff was talking very very loudly nearby cutting down everything about the wedding that had just taken place an hour earlier. It definitely discouraged me and made me very angry with them that they aren't more responsible. Also we had 3 small cheesecakes that were going to serve as our wedding cakes. We asked Drakes if they could hold them in one of their refrigerators during the day so that we wouldn't have to pick them up last minute. They refused. They said they had absolutely no room to spare for anything we might bring and they were very very rude about it. Lukily we were staying at the Hilton downtown. We asked them if they had a refrigerator we could use and they said "absolutely, we have large refrigerators put aside just for our guests personal use." You would think that a professional catering hall that serves weddings would have as much sense as a hotel. Guess not.

Were very flexible and hospitable. Food was above average and good for our budget. Space was perfect for 300 people. Little tight for 400.

The food was execptional. On the night of my wedding my husband and I were placed in a secluded room and served our first meal as a married couple. It was so romantic. It was a little pricy. But looking back, I would bay double for the food and the service.
